Greetings! I am Laurel, a multi-disciplinary artist from Oakland, California, with a background in jewelry and metalsmithing.

My latest body of work brings together my passion for textiles, sewing, jewelry and fine art. My small wall pieces are an exploration of materials, techniques and design. Using up-cycled denim as a base, my modernist compositions are colorful, textural, often encrusted with jewelry bits and baubles.

My jewelry is full of visual contradictions. It references childhood with it's candy colors and cartoon like forms, yet is firmly rooted in disciplined craft. It is slick and contemporary, glowing with neon, juxtaposed with darkened, rough silver. It is sprinkled with old, worn trade beads, and Swarovski crystals. It is both tribal and modern.

For the prints, I use jewelry pieces in the creation of digital collages. In addition to my own work, I also use trinkets and baubles from my enormous stash of jewelry supplies: beads, chain, and vintage bits and pieces. I work with a giclee printer to print them in a variety of sizes.

I am always adding new pieces to the shop, and I’m also available for commissions. If you have any questions, or just want to say “hi”, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
